PCM Reprogramming Codes

A PCM Reflashing subscription allows you to program the Powertrain Control Modules on applicable MazdaeBay logo vehicles (sold in the United States and Canada) to the latest calibration level.

Note: For issues with MMP/MDSFA software, use the “Contact Us” submission at the bottom of the page.

The subscription includes access to download a software application that you can install on a PC.

For 2018 and later 6th generation models (2018 Mazda3, 2018-2019 CX-3. 2018-present Mazda6, MX-5, CX-5 and CX-9):

  • Current MDFSFA Release = MDSFA 114.00, released 08/04/2019
  • Update version = MDSFA 114.04

NOTE: For 7th generation models starting with 2019 Mazda3, MDSFA will not work for PCM reflash or key reprogramming. A M-MDS Software (MDARS) subscription will need to be purchased to reflash the PCM or key reprogramming using a MazdaeBay logo VCM-II.

 

For 2017 and earlier models:

  • Version MMP 114.00, released 08/03/2019

NOTE:

Calibration updates are for PCM (ECU) only. Medium speed CAN modules (BCM and other modules) cannot be reflashed using the MMP program and J2534 device. They must be programmed using IDS.

You may be required to access Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) when programming a module. A Service Information subscription is not included, but can be purchased separately.

All 1996 models and later can be reflashed except for Miata. Only 2006 Miata (MX-5) and later can be reflashed.

M-MDS SOFTWARE

MDARS Software

  • A MazdaeBay logo IDS subscription will also get you access to MDARS for 7th generation vehicles (starting with 2019 Mazda3). MDARS can also be purchased for 72 hours or 30 days like PCM reflashing software (MMP/MDSFA) because they will not work on 7th generation vehicles.
  • MDARS software can only be used with MazdaeBay logo VCM II. MazdaeBay logo VCM II hardware is purchased separately – see “VCM-II” tab.
  • VCM II Serial Number will be required when subscription is purchased to activate the VCM II. Please allow a couple of days for the VCM II to be activated.

For issues with IDS/MDARS, use the “Contact Us” submission at the bottom of the page. The subscription includes access to cloud based MDARS software.

M-MDS SOFTWARE

IDS Software

  • All IDS software licenses will expire December 31st of each year purchased. Annual renewals will be available each January 1st. New pricing will be available at the beginning of each quarter (January-March $1000, April-June $850, July-September $700, October-Dec $550).
  • MazdaeBay logo IDS software can only be used with MazdaeBay logo VCM II. VCM I is no longer supported. MazdaeBay logo VCM II hardware is purchased separately – see “VCM II” tab.
  • VCM II Serial Number will be required when subscription is purchased to activate the VCM II. Please allow a couple of days for the VCM II to be activated.
  • MazdaeBay logo IDS and Ford IDS cannot be installed on the same computer. You will need to uninstall one of them to use the other.

Immobilizer Codes

Immobilizer (Serial Number)*

Applies to 1998-2002 626, 2001-2006 MPV and 2001-2005 Miata. Immobilizer Codes for Serial Numbers are provided by purchasing subscription access to the query form on this website. Upon filling out and submitting the form, you will receive the results by email at the address specified in your MazdaeBay logo Service Info account. The email will be sent to you in approximately 15 minutes. Information you will need to provide on the form includes: VIN, and Immobilizer Serial Number.

Immobilizer (Code Word)*

Applies to Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda5, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5, CX-7, CX-9, MX-5, and RX-8. Immobilizer In Codes for Out Codes are provided by purchasing subscription access to the query form on this website. Upon filling out and submitting the form, you will receive the results by email at the address specified in your MazdaeBay logo Service Info account. The email will be sent to you approximately 15 minutes. Information you will need to provide on the form includes: Part Number, Serial Number, Error Control Number, VIN, and Out Code.

NOTE: For vehicles with push button start, you will need at least one valid key to turn the ignition ON. If you have no valid keys, you will need to use IDS to “Force Ignition ON.”

MDSFA/MMP Required Hardware (Not Included)  

As shown in the diagram, an SAE J2534 pass-thru device is required to use the application.

J2534 Connection

 

Hardware validated by MazdaeBay logo can be purchased separately from a third-party supplier. Validation has been done using the following J2534 pass-thru device and cables:

  • CarDAQ+ (includes RS232 and Ethernet cables)
  • Cable between CarDAQ and Vehicle – CD2534-J1962-FEPS (Sold separately / Required)

 

Important Information: MazdaeBay logo makes no representations about the performance of third-party passthru devices. This pass-thru device list is provided voluntarily and as a courtesy. While our software meets SAE J2534, the pass-thru device manufacturer is responsible for making sure their pass-thru device operates properly on each MazdaeBay logo vehicle and with MazdaeBay logo software. We have listed the devices below because their manufacturers have attested that the tools have been validated to work. From time to time, we may test these devices. If we determine they do not operate properly or are obsolete, we may remove them from the list, without notice. Additionally, pass-thru devices listed here have been listed for their use with MazdaeBay logo North American products only. While they may work with some European and other vehicles, they may not meet the requirements for those regions or operate properly.

PCM Reprogramming Process Overview 

  • Purchase a subscription to PCM Reprogramming on this website.
  • Download the application and install it on your PC.
  • Connect the J2534 pass-thru device to the PC and the vehicle, and power it up.
  • Run the application installed on your PC.
  • The application will determine whether or not a new calibration file is available.
  • If you choose to use the new file, the module will be reprogrammed.
  • If PATS functionality is required, it can be chosen from the toolbox.
