No Start Unless Holding Remote Transmitter Close To START/STOP Button

2016 MX-5 START CONCERN

Condition where they have to hold the remote transmitter to the START/STOP button in order to start the vehicle.

DTC B13C3:16 and/or B13C3:29 may also be stored.

This can happen after the front windshield is tinted and water drains down behind the dash during installation.

If you encounter this situation and know or suspect the customer installed front windshield tint, please check the vehicle as follows.

NOTE: Some tint film appears clear and is for UV light only, so look carefully at the windshield to be sure if tint is installed or not.

Check connector C-16 behind the dashboard for any moisture.

If moisture is found, thoroughly clean and dry the connector and add deoxit to the terminals.
If the connector is clean and dry, follow the WSM diagnostic procedures based on the exact symptoms.
