A-Pillar Trim Distortion Poor Appearance – 2013-2016 Mazda CX-5

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2013-2016 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KE******730190 (produced before Oct. 15, 2015)

DESCRIPTION

Some customers may complain of the poor appearance of the passenger and/or driver side A-pillar trim. The lower portion of the trim may become distorted (as shown below) due to high temperatures.

To eliminate this concern, the shape of the body flange has been improved during mass-production to allow sufficient A-pillar clearance.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Replace the affected side A-pillar trim(s) with a new modified service part according to the instructions on MS3 online or the Workshop Manual (section 09-17 A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Verify the repair.

PART(S) INFORMATION

NOTE:

• The new service part has an aluminum reinforcement attached to the back side of the trim.
• The A-pillar trim comes with a clip and upper plate spring.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

NOTE:

• This warranty information applies only to verified customer complaints on vehicles eligible for warranty repair.
• This repair will be covered under Mazda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty term.
• Additional diagnostic time cannot be claimed for this repair.

NOTE: If both side trim pieces are replaced, claim other side as a related part.
