2016 MX-5 – SQUEAK NOISE WHEN DOOR GLASS MOVES UP AND/OR DOWN

2016 MX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1ND******112654 (produced before February 29, 2016)
Squeak noise when the door glass moves up and/or down. This concern happens especially when the door glass is wet with moisture or after a car wash.
This is caused by stick-slip noise occurring at the contact surfaces between the door glass and the weather strip. With repeated moving up and down, the anti-noise paint on the weather strip peels off.
To prevent the stick-slip noise, a high slide-ability tape has been added to the weather strip.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Remove the door trim according to the instructions on MS3 online or the Workshop Manual.
- Replace the weatherstrip on both doors with modified ones.
- Install the door trim.
