2016 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KE******781350 (produced before Feb. 22, 2016)
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit rear brake dragging, resulting in brake noise and abnormal outer brake pad wear.
This may be caused when the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) does not release completely. To eliminate this concern, the EPB control module logic has been modified.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Verify the customer concern.
- Replace the electric parking brake control module (A) with a modified one according to the instructions on MS3 online (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
NOTE:
- If the rear brake pads are abnormally worn or damaged, replace them according to the instructions on MS3 online (REAR DISC PAD REPLACEMENT).
- If the rear brake disc plates are abnormally worn or damaged, replace them according to the instruction on MS3 online (REAR BRAKE (DISC) PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
- Verify the repair.
