Sail Garnish Separation (Detached) – 2016 Mazda CX-3

2016 CX-3 – SAIL GARNISH SEPARATION (DETACHED)

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2016 CX-3 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1 DK ****** 114947 (produced before September 07, 2015)

 

Sail garnish separation (one side or both sides).

 

This may be caused by insufficient adhesion causing enlarged clearance between the sail garnish and the front sash molding.

 

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the sail garnish(s). Refer to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-16).
2. Remove and clean any dirt from the adhesion surface of the sail garnish(s) and the front sash molding .
3. Cut a piece of 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06397  or equivalent into the following shape and size.

Note: Thickness: 1.6 mm

 

4. Apply 3M automotive adhesion promoter 06396  or equivalent to the sail garnish adhesion surface where the additional 3M tape will be attached .
5. Attach the additional 3M tape to the sail garnish(s).

6. Remove the already existing double-sided adhesive tape (A).

7. Apply 3M automotive adhesion promoter 06396  or equivalent to the sail garnish (A) adhesion surface where the new 3M tape (20 mm X 8 mm X 1.6 mm) will be attached.
8. Attach the new 3M tape (A).

Length X Width: 20 mm X 8 mm

Thickness: 1.6 mm

 

9. Apply 3M automotive adhesion promoter 06396  or equivalent to the front sash molding adhesion surface where the new 3M tape will be attached.
10. Install the sail garnish(s). Refer to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-16).
