“The power liftgate may not open/close electrically if the vehicle is parked on an incline, or there is strong wind, or the liftgate is laden with snow”.

In addition to the power liftgate description above (found in the 2016 CX-9 Owner’s Manual), please be aware of the following information as well:

  • The normal operating range of the power liftgate is between -15° (front end down) and +15° (front end up), however, if there are strong winds present or if there is a substantial amount of snow on the liftgate, the operational range may be reduced.
  • If the power liftgate does not operate within the normal operating range (between -15° to +15°), inspect/repair the PLG system according to the System Troubleshooting section of the Workshop Manual on MS3 online.
