2016 MX-5 – KEYLESS ENTRY INOPERATIVE OR VEHICLE DOES NOT START
If you encounter a 2016 MX-5 where the keyless entry is inoperative or the vehicle does not start without holding the key to the START/STOP button, check for window tint on the door glass.
When installing window tint, the rubber that seals against the window is pulled back allowing soapy water used during the tint installation to run down into the door and into the door latch and lock actuator connector.
Clean and dry the connector.
If problems still persist, replace the door latch and lock actuator.
