2016 MX-5 – WEAR MARKS ON SOFT TOP (WITHOUT TOP INNER CLOTH (HEADLINER))
Four wear marks on the outer surface of the soft top on the left and right sides in the same locations.
There is no damage on the inner surface.
The marks are located upward of the door glass rear edge and around the edge of the soft top stitch.
Each mark is caused from contact with the convertible top frame when the top is opened and closed.
If you encounter this issue:
- Replace the soft top from original equipped “N243-R1-210F-02 (w/o inner cloth)” to “N247-R1-210G-02 (with inner cloth)”.
- Install washers between link brackets and seat back cross member.
- Explain to the customer the differences between “N243-R1-210F-02 (w/o inner cloth)” and “N247-R1-210G 02 (with inner cloth)”.
- Soft top has inner cloth.
- Back window thickness changes from 2.5mm to 3.1mm.
- Soft top is a little bit heavier and noise insulation is better because of the above 2 mentioned items.
