2014-2015 MAZDA3 AND 2014-16 MAZDA6 – CORROSION AROUND SPOT WELDS IN TRUNK OPENING
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2014-2015 Mazda3 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1BM******211783 (produced before May 29, 2014)
2014-2016 Mazda6 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1GJ******416327 (produced before March 2, 2015)
Vehicles may exhibit corrosion around the spot welds in the trunk opening under the rear window.
This is caused by insufficient paint thickness at the spot welds. To correct the problem, the paint thickness has been improved.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Repair the rust damage on the panel.
